Activities

Burgau is a charming fishing village built on the hillside with a sheltered beach and is 1 minute by car, or a 10 minute walk from Salsalito. It's fisherman's cottages tumble down narrow cobbles streets towards the horseshoe bay, with a sandy beach. Nestled on the beach is the famous "Beach Bar Burgau," restaurant and bar created by Ralph Eveleigh and Keith Shepherd that has sunbeds, sunshades and paddle boats available for rent. You can watch the fishermen mending their nets before they launch their boats for the evening catch, surfers catching waves and enjoying swimming in the shallow water. There are over 20 restaurants in Burgau, catering from locally caught fish to international cuisine, and most evenings and Sunday afternoons you can be entertained with great live music, but it a full ban or a guitar player, from Jazz and Rock to easy-listening as you take in the sunset.
