Situated on the south western Algarve, just outside the charming fishing village of Burgau, Salsalito is described by guests as a visual paradise, a sanctuary. Having been lovingly designed and built by the English owners, Ralph and Sally who helped develop the charming village of Burgau in the 1970s into what it is today. The beautiful property is nestled in the charming fishing village and only a 10 minute walk to the beach.
Unfortunately Ralph passed away in 2019, but he and Sally's lifelong developments including Salsalito and the Beach Bar Burgau preserve traditional Portuguese styles and epitomize Burgau customs, and are cornerstone establishments that make Burgau such a wonderful place to visit.
With 4 guest rooms available, a pool and a large 3 acre property, Salsalito is the perfect place for your Portuguese vacation. The Guest House Bed and Breakfast includes a self catering Kitchen/Barbecue for Sally's guests.
Attention to detail, focused on quality, are the reasons for Salsalito's success as Sally's goal is constantly to improve on quality. A stay in either the main rooms or garden room, is a chic alternative to accommodation in a 5 star Hotel.
Salsalito is very well situated for all amenities in the area, from the west coast, the historical town of Lagos and up to the Monchique mountains, all are in easy reach. This is the perfect sanctuary to get away from it all and guests come back year after year to "chill out."
One of the Moroccan Gazebos on the property is designated for yoga and beauty treatments. Set in its own grounds and surrounded by a tropical garden relax and be refreshed amidst hammocks scattered amongst the shaded trees.
Every morning, on the top terrace, guests can enjoy the extensive continental breakfast, whilst watching the birds take their daily bath on the rock waterfall that encases the swimming pool. After breakfast, take a swim in the swimming pool, then sit on the jacuzzi-style bubble seat massaging away all your aches & pains!
Guests like to meet up before and after dinner in the honesty bar or on the terrace, friends drop by for a sundowner, its all very friendly place and you get a chance to meet some interesting locals as well as Sally's Labrador Bruno!

In the grounds, behind the pool is a kitchen and outdoor barbecue. The kitchen is fully equipped, also providing a cupboard & fridge designated for each room, allowing guests the option of preparing lunch or an evening meal. From the kitchen you step out onto a partly covered terrace with a table, chairs and Wifi, moving onto the open terrace with the barbecue, 4 tables, 16 chairs.

"How can this be called a 'guest house?!?!?! On the outskirts of the quaint village of Burgau, down a bougainvillea lined drive lurks this most amazing and intimate property. Lovingly bought together by Sally and her husband. Here you will find an oasis of calm. The beautiful pool area - descriptions cannot do it justice. Only four rooms! Recommend going with an intimate group of friends if you can to have the property to yourself (Shows I’m Selfish). Lovely Rooms. Decor decidedly Moorish. Beautiful Breakfast. Honesty Bar. "We are a young couple who stayed 3 nights in Salsalito this summer and both of us were inmediately in love with it! The room has everything you might need, the bed is comfy and there's lots of storage to keep your things tidy. The common areas of Salsalito (breakfast porch, pool & garden, shared kitchen etc.) were simply amazing. Specially for us, the shared kitchen was super convenient because we were making our own lunch to take to the beach. You have your own medium-sized fridge with a small freezer inside and also your own cupboard. Breakfast was served from 8:30 to 10:30 and it was delicious. You have multiple options: bread, cheese, ham, jam, granola, fruit, pastelinhos de Belem (so so tasty), some pastries... The location was also great, since it was very close to all the different locations we wanted to visit in El Algarve (ponta da Piedade, Lagos, Benagil cave, multiple stunning beaches...). It's not walking-distance to any beach I'd say, but you can be at Burgau's beach in 5mins by car.
